Established in November of 2010, Pirates & Poets is an organization dedicated to introducing Independent Artists and musicians to new fans. That goal is accomplished through a variety of channels, including stand alone shows, multi-day events, radio shows, and more. Pirates & Poets is known for its listening events that allow the artists to bring their stories to the fans.
The organization hosted its first show, The Port Aransas Songwriter Invitational, in February 2011. Since that time they've added events in Key West, New Orleans, and Mexico along with a monthly residency in Kemah, Texas. All of these events feature multiple songwriters from across the country.
The Pirates & Poets Podcast was produced weekly from November 2014 to December 2017. It was syndicated on four radio stations and was named Radio Show of the Year for 2016 by the Trop Rock Music Association. As of January 2019 Pirates & Poets currently produces shows for Vinyl Draught Radio and Radio Trop Rock.
Pirates & Poets currently books and hosts approximately 20 nights of live music a year. In addition the Pirates & Poets crew has been hired to work various events such as Pardi-Gras in New Orleans, LA, The Lonestar Luau in Marble Falls, TX, The Island Fever Showcase in Clear Lake, IA, and Riddles in The Sand in Galveston, TX.
Pirates & Poets also provides sound, stage management, and booking services to numerous acts including Jerry Diaz & Hanna's Reef, Donny Brewer and Drop Dead Dangerous.
